High Detail Urban Spaces
This is a 1 hour drawing of the skyline of Bradford using marker pens and a fine liner pen. There is a good sense of impressionism in the image as it is showing a lot of detail but without some of the finer detail such as windows. There are a few focal points of the image and the rule of thirds applies to the image. The building to the left of centre has detail on it through the using the larger marker pen and the smaller outline using the fine liner. The direction of the light can be seen and which sides it is shining on. This building is also in the rule of thirds and it is why it is a focal point. The larger building behind it is also a focal point because there is not much detail on it but because its surroundings which have more detail and this draws the attention to the large white area at the front of the building where the light is shining on it. This is because of impressionistic technique. The background it loosely drawn in because of this technique and also as it is not an area of interest. The building at the foreground, where the larger end of the marker pen has been used to shade the roof in quickly, shows a good sense light and shade in the image because of the tonal values. There are different tonal values as 2 different shades of grey marker pens were used and the outlines were not drawn on all the buildings so there is a good sense of impressionism.
