Vehicles

This is a charcoal drawing of a vehicle which was created in 1 hour. There is a good sense of perspective in the drawing except for the wheel on the left. There is foreshortening in the image and this can be seen on the right hand side from the front wheel to the back wheel. The main focal points of this image are the highlights on the bonnet and at the front of the car. There are a lot of tonal values and the shading on the car is good. The shadow below the car gives good sense that the car is on the ground and not floating and the ladder in the background also adds depth to the image. The shading on the car also gives it form as you can see that it curves and reflects the surroundings because of the surface and the materials the car is made of. There is contrast in the image from the brighter and front and the darker parts at the back because more of the light is shining at the front. Also there is some contrast between the colours and there are changes in hue in some places which creates a line. For example at the right hand side at the front of the car close to the highlight. A line is created as the darker shaded area meets the lighter are closer to the highlight at the top of the car. There are some orthogonal lines at the right hand side of the car where they travel along the car towards the top right where the vanishing points are on the horizon line. Another orthogonal line is located on the left side of the cars bonnet and travel diagonally towards the windshield and further to meet the horizon line. This also shows foreshortening from the front of the car to the back. An implied line can also be seen when looking at the top and side of the car. The line travels from the highlight near the front down to the shadow and then it travels along before going down to the wheel mudguard. It then travels along the line that is created between the highlight and shadow and up towards the windshield.
